Each year, BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) runs Digital Day – a campaign designed to give young people an insight into the world of digital careers. Having taken part in the past, we are once again pleased to be joining the initiative in 2022!
On 9th December, digital agencies and experts up and down the country will be visiting schools to bring digital to life! Not only is it an opportunity for those working in the sector to share their expertise and demonstrate the breadth of opportunity within digital, but to also meet and learn from the next generation of digital professionals.
The team at Giant Digital will be spending the day with pupils from Kirkham Grammar School, where they will share their knowledge and experience in digital, talk about the different roles in the organisation and share some inspiration through case studies and real life examples.
The pupils will then be divided into teams to tackle one of two real-world challenges under the guidance of Giant and their teachers, culminating in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentation at the end of the day. The winning teams will have the opportunity to enter their digital solutions into a national competition, with a chance to win prizes for themselves and their school.
Jon Atkinson, Technical Director at Giant Digital said of the campaign;
We couldn’t be more pleased to be taking part in BIMA’s digital day campaign again this year, and what a wonderful opportunity to encourage and inspire the next generation of digital professionals. Working in digital doesn’t just mean becoming a software engineer – there are so many different careers available in our sector, and we want to help get that message out there as young people begin to consider their study options.
Carefully chosen for their expertise, Lalita D’Cruze (Operations Manager), Alex McGibbon (Innovation Director) and Ben Armstead (Intern Software Engineer) will join Jon in shining a light on careers in digital, particularly in relation to Giant’s work as a leading charity digital agency.
