FARM Supports DjangoGirls Manchester
16th February 2016
It was amazing how much progress I was seeing - people going from zero programming experience to a complete website, hosted in the cloud, in just one day. I'm so pleased to have been part of this.
Last Saturday, FARM participated in DjangoGirls Manchester.
Django Girls is a non-profit organization and a community that empowers and helps women to organize free, one-day programming workshops by providing tools, resources and support. They are a volunteer run organization with hundreds of people contributing to bring more amazing women into the world of technology. DjangoGirls are making technology more approachable by creating simpler tools and resources designed with empathy.
During the event, around 20 people built their first web application using HTML, CSS, Python and Django. For a lot of the participants, it was their first exposure to a lot of technology; from using the terminal, to how the internet works.
We're proud to be associated with this event, and we're looking forward to being involved again the next time DjangoGirls visits Manchester.
Thank you to Claire Dodd and Leona So for organising and hosting a great day.
